Amy Patel, M.D., a board-certified and fellowship-trained breast radiologist, will join Liberty Hospital Women’s Imaging in July. A native of Chillicothe, MO, Dr. Patel most recently was part of the Breast Imaging Section at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Instructor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School.
“Dr. Patel’s knowledge, expertise and experience will enhance the excellent care our patients are accustomed to receiving at Liberty Hospital Women’s Imaging,” said Amy Mathis, Manager of Diagnostic Imaging.
Dr. Patel completed her Fellowship in Breast Radiology at Washington University Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, St. Louis. “A breast fellowship education provides specialized care in all aspects of breast imaging,” Mathis said. “We are fortunate that Dr. Patel - with the education and experience she has acquired - will be accessible to our patients and the community.”
Dr. Patel received her medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine and completed her residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Kansas-Wichita.
Her areas of expertise include 2D and 3D mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, 2D and 3D stereotactic-, ultrasound- and MRI-guided biopsies, wire localizations and ductography.
Dr. Patel is involved in leadership on the national level of various committees, including the American College of Radiology and Society of Breast Imaging. She recently was the recipient of the Howard Fleishon, M.D., Advocate of the Year Award from the American College of Radiology Association. The award – for which Dr. Patel is the youngest ever to receive it – is named for the man who established the advocacy branch of the ACRA government relations team.
