Liberty Hospital Primary Care Launches 'Dr. Walk-Well'
A new wellness activity called “Dr. Walk-Well” is free and open to the public every Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. now through October at Liberty Hospital Primary Care Shoal Creek, 8380 N. Tullis Ave., Kansas City (Hwy. 152 and Shoal Creek Parkway).

Walkers will meet Brad Garstang, M.D., at 2:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Liberty Hospital Primary Care Shoal Creek clinic. The first 20 minutes will include weight and blood pressure checks, along with an informational presentation (topics include nutrition, diabetes, stretching, weight loss, etc.). Approximately 40 minutes will be spent walking with Dr. Garstang where you can ask general health questions. No need to sign up; just show up on Fridays at 2:00 p.m.

I’m offering this program to show others the benefits of regular exercise and provide a community to share walking and physical activity,” Dr. Garstang said. “After prescribing exercise as medicine to my patients, I hope by walking with them that they can start their own journey to better health. I have benefitted personally from accountability of an exercise group and hope this group motivates others to stay consistent. We can track health improvements by monitoring blood pressure and weight and discuss barriers preventing regular exercise.”

In case of inclement weather, call the office at 816-415-3451 or check the clinic’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/libertyhospitalprimarycare.
