This childbirth class covers the mechanics of the labor and birth process. This is not a Lamaze class. Topics include comfort measures and the role of the coach with limited discussion of breathing/relaxation techniques.
Interventions during labor, complications and pain management are included in the content. A guided tour of the Birthing Center occurs after the class has ended, so please allow an additional 30-40 minutes for the tour.
The class is held in the Auditorium of the Education Center at Liberty Hospital. You may access the Education Center entrance directly from the main hospital parking lot (near DaVita Dialysis) or via the Main Hospital Entrance by taking the elevators to the ground floor (GR button), exit the elevator to the left and follow the signs to the Education Center and Auditorium.
Baby Care Basics is recommended as a companion class and requires separate registration. We suggest that you complete your classes by the time you are 36 weeks gestation. Registration is required to participate in this class. You only need to register one time per couple.
